Don't beat on it, those inline 6's will last a long ass time.

It's not a 300 with a 4-speed.
It's a 200 with a 3-speed auto.

The 170 is known for starting up perfectly after years of sitting, with fresh gas of course. The Inline 6's of fords are very unappreciated, but they aren't anything special in terms of power...just workhorses.

I put a similar drivetrain in my '62 comet(mine was out of a '71 maverick). It was a massive upgrade from the stock 144ci inline & 2-speed Merc-O-Matic cast iron transmission.
I later put a '68 200 in my '64 falcon wagon to replace the 170 with a burnt valve that was in there when I bought it.
They make a nice upgrade to the early falcon/comets as they bolt up to all the factory mounts/accessories and look stock while giving a bit of a power bump while being utterly unkillable.
